Ring of Fire Necklace

A very simple project with a striking visual impact. This beautiful piece is constructed using a finished sterling silver snake chain and adding large hole beads and a bail onto it. The necklace as shown is 18" in length and 2.5mm thick. *The thickness becomes important because you need to make sure that the large hole beads and bail(s) you want to use have a large enough opening; and more importantly, the Smart beads that are used need to fit snugly. If you decide to make this piece using a shorter length but the same width...the same Smart beads can be used. If you decide that you want your necklace width to be thinner or thicker, than the Smart beads will most likely need to be changed out for a more appropriate fit. The Smart beads have a rubber inside sleave which will grip the necklace and keep the other beads from moving all around the necklace by providing a stopping point. Start by unclasping the necklace. Take one of the Smart beads and push it on to the chain from the non-clasp end. Push the Smart bead passed the center point of the necklace. Now add your large hole beads in the desired pattern. These beads are meant to have some movement. Be sure to add your bail so it falls in the center of the necklace. Finish adding your large hole beads and end it by adding the second Smart bead as before. The last part of the project is to add your Swarovski Cosmic Ring. It is shown here with the Volcano color. This idea can be used with any fancy drop that you have in mind. Open the round jump ring and attach your crystal ring (or other pendant) to the center bail and close the jump ring. If you choose a different pendant, be aware that your jump ring size may need to change. Voila! A beautifully simple piece. The great thing is that the Smart beads allow you to remove some beads, change out your pattern, swap the pendant for a different color/look. The possibilities are endless.
